Ultrasonic smart sensors in our ears allowed us to listen to bats on their terms. They asked for more funding for the national parks.

The¬†Internet of Wild Things has been set up in London. Smart bat sensors have been installed at 15 sites across Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, allowing researchers to study the life of bats in unprecedented detail. Jaz Twersky wonders if one day, we’ll be able to wear this technology and communicate with bats directly. Recent developments in sensor technology suggest that while we may not be able to understand them, we could one day feel ultrasonic vibrations through spray-on sensors. //Alex Massey

We uploaded the consciousness of puppies into small soft robots. Now we could lavish our love on therapy animals who never died.

Recent studies have shown that companion and therapy animals have demonstrable physical and mental health benefits for their humans. But what happens when this bond is severed by the inevitable? Many people grieve the loss of their pets more than the death of a family member or friend. Intrigued by recent developments in soft robotics, Jaz Twersky takes the love and affection of a puppy and uploads it to a vehicle that can never die.

Rabbis argued which side of the mechitza AIs belonged on. AIs stayed quiet, uninterested in any binary beyond 1s and 0s.

The definition of consciousness has plagued humanity for centuries. As we struggle to define what it means to be conscious, increasingly complex robots with Artificial Intelligence (AI) are prompting questions about ethics, rights, and associated legislation. What will happen if an AI achieves sentience? Jaz Twersky takes this concept and creates a world in which sentient AIs exist and are not only perceived as alive, but also to become members of human religions. How would¬†Orthodox Rabbi’s interpret AIs in a gendered context?
