We made robots that wrote music based on brainwaves. We wanted to hear thoughts of wonder. Instead, a deeply buried sorrow filled our ears.

Humans have listened to music as a way to channel our feelings since we first began to create sound. A research team lead by Osaka University have developed a new machine-learning robot that detects the emotional state of its listeners to produce new songs that elicit new feelings.
